Every carrier requires a valid VAT-ID. In addition to that, German companies either need to provide us with an extract of the commercial register (Handelsregister), or in the case of sole proprietors and companies constituted under civil law (GbRs) with the business registration (Gewerbeanmeldung). Please be aware that name and addresses on all documents should match the information that you have provided us. In the case of sole proprietors and GbRs, the name of the proprietors should be mentioned explicitly.

Additionally, depending on your fleet we also require the following documents:

  • Carriers with vehicles of more than 3.5t permissible maximum weight have to upload a valid EU license as well as a goods damage liability insurance having a minimum coverage of EUR 600,000 per incident and, if applicable, a yearly minimum coverage of at least EUR 1,200,000 (in Germany) according to § 7a GüKG. Moreover, a goods damage liability insurance for international/CMR transports having a minimum coverage of EUR 250,000 per incident and, if applicable, a yearly maximum coverage of at least EUR 500,000.

  • Carriers with vehicles having a permissible maximum weight of 3.5t or less require a valid goods damage liability insurance policy with a minimum coverage of EUR 11,000 per incident and, if applicable, a yearly maximum coverage of at least EUR 22,000 for Germany, CMR/international and domestic (within the respective country of origin) transports in addition to the VAT-ID.

  • For freight forwarders without an own fleet, the same liability insurance requirements as for carriers with vehicles of more than 3.5t permissible maximum weight are applicable.
